Abstract

Performance measurement and management is a topic of increasing interest both in the business and academic environment. The literature is today quite vast and particularly focused on the development of frameworks and metrics for large companies, and secondly for small and medium enterprises. This paper presents the topic of performance measurement in application to a particular business, such as that of racing teams. By relying on a deep comprehension of racing team processes and organization, a performance measurement system is presented based on the value chain scheme. This paper, based on an action research, explores the application of performance measurement in an unresearched context. © 2010 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
