Abstract

In this paper optimal Dirichlet boundary control problems governed by the wave equation and the strongly damped wave equation with control constraints are analyzed. For treating inequality constraints semismooth Newton methods are discussed and their convergence properties are investigated. For numerical realization a space-time finite element discretization is introduced. Numerical examples illustrate the results. © 2010 Springer -Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
