Abstract

The issue of the integration of ontologies in production management systems has not been solved yet. There are a number of methods, each of which is adapted to some special cases. In our opinion the multimodal approach can reduce cost of the ontologies combining problem. We recognize two multimodal-based approaches: Multimodality Theory and Multimodal Network. The first allows to find other instances (modalities) for current ontology. The second creates mechanism to include new domain in ontologies. The paper presents the conceptual approach to the problem of integration of ontologies based on multimodal theory. © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2014.
