Misinformation and scientific journalism: The case of Maldita Ciencia

Abstract

This aim of this research to analyse the work of the journalist organisation Maldita Ciencia in its first year of life, including its verification and dissemination processes. In this way, through a combination of quantitative methodologies (use and analysis of social networks) and qualitative (personal interviews) are studied the processes of creating false content with the appearance of scientific information and how audiences assume them as true and how they viralize it. At the same time, it is essential to know how this type of disinformation is verified and debunked to propose a typology of analysis by the type of hoax.
