Abstract

New developments in wet and dry finishing launched at three major exhibitions in 2001 are reviewed. ATME-1 (Greenville, SC), OTEMAS (Osaka, Japan) and ITMA Asia (Singapore) were the venues. Eight companies are listed with innovative wet finishing equipment and technology - Fleissner GmbH & Co., Rudolf Chemie GmbH & Co. KG, Ciba Specialty Chemicals, Frisby Technologies, Cavitec AG, Schaetti AG, Lindauer Dornier GmbH and Bianco S.P.A. A Monforts Textilmaschinen GmbH & Co.'s drying system is described. Dry finishing machinery was exhibited by Biancalani S.p.A., Comet S.p.A., Cibitex S.r.I., Glenro Inc., SperottoRimar, Menzel Parks and Woolson Machine Co. Inc., Eduard Kusters Maschinenfabrik GmbH & Co. AG and Lafer S.p.A. The illustrations show Dornier's EcoFix/2 heat setting machine for tubular knitting, Lafer's UltraSoft machine and Glenro's flatbed laminating equipment. A wide variety of fabrics including nonwovens, denim, cotton, technical textiles, elastane and knitted fabrics of all types are covered by these systems.
