A new method for the rapid microdetermination of the chlorine, bromine, and iodine content of organic materials is described. The sample is burned in a piece of ash-free filter paper in an Erlenmeyer flask filled with oxygen. After the combustion products are absorbed, the chlorine or bromine content is determined acidimetrically after Vieböck; the iodine is determined iodometrically by the Leipert method. - The method is not suitable for the analysis of easily volatile compounds. The accuracy attained was ± 0.3%. © 1955 Springer-Verlag.
