Abstract

Hypertension is one of the non communicable diseases that become a serious health problem. Prevalence of hypertension in Indonesia was 25.8%. Prevalence of hypertension in Puskesmas Tanah Kalikedinding Surabaya reached 17% during a year. The objective of this study was analyze the relationship between sleep pattern in Puskesmas Tanah Kalikedinding Surabaya. The method used in this study was analytical observasional with case control design. The population were patients visiting to outpatient clinic at Puskesmas Tanah Kalikedinding. There were 76 people consisting of 38 cases sample and 38 control samples. The variables studied were sleep pattern. The correlation value calculated with Chi Square test and statcalc program. The results showed that there was no significant relationship between age of respondents with hypertension p=0.393 (p> α=0.05), no significant relationship between sex with hypertension p=1.000 (p> α=0,05), there was a significant relationship between sleep pattern with hypertension p=0.000 (p <29.65). Paramedic are expected to provide counseling to the community in the area of Puskesmas Tanah Kalikedinding Surabaya about hypertension risk factors, especially sleep pattern and personality type.Keywords: Hypertension, Sleep Pattern, age, sex, risk
