Abstract

Allergic contact dermatitis can occur during almost every step in the process of vinification. Additives or the wine itself can be contact allergens. Patch testing can be done to individual ingredients or contaminants, including ethanol itself. Prolonged or frequent exposure to grapes can cause asymptomatic sensitization. Overall incidence of allergic contact dermatitis in winemaking is low.
