Abstract

The technology of Three-Dimension (3D) reconstruction of medical images has been playing an increasingly important role in modern clinical medicine. With application softwares' advent, physicians can explore the method of 3D entity reconstruction more conveniently and easily. This paper aims to provide physicians with a feasible method for 3D entity reconstruction of carotid artery. The raw carotid artery images derived from patients undergoing the test of high resolution carotid artery MRI. Then with the aid of the Mimics toolkit, raw images were used to generate the 3D model of carotid blood. Finally, Magics carried out the step of 3D extension and Boolean Operation to produce the 3D model of carotid wall. © 2011 Springer-Verlag.
