Abstract

This study presents a platform created in order to support the emergency procedures followed by the Ambulance Department of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Cyprus. The procedures start from the point an emergency call is received until a patient is transferred to the hospital. The platform consists of a) a system that supports emergency dispatch protocols, b) data recording and workflow management of the ambulance department and c) an emergency telemedicine system, which can support patient handling from expert personnel. The system has been implemented and has been installed in the Ambulance Department. It is currently under pilot phase before moving to daily practice.
