Abstract

The continuous development of technology has saved countless lives and improved the quality of living. Artificial Intelligence is reshaping the healthcare industry from hospital care to clinical research, drug development, to insurance, and has been able to reduce costs and improve patient outcomes. Most AI system works as a black box with little or no explanation which results in a lack of trust and accountability among patients and doctors. This chapter is written with the intent to share with the audience how exquisitely the health care sector has integrated with the technology. The chapter initiates with a brief description of the use of Artificial intelligence and technology in the health domain, and how computers are helping not only doctors, but patients, health care departments, and Insurance companies. This chapter later focuses on various AI-driven Applications which are used for patient care and treatment. This chapter shed light on the purpose and benefits of XAI along with a few real examples.
