Abstract

The quality of the transmitted voice in the Voice over IP (VoIP) service should be investigated from the end-user perspective, by estimating perceptional metrics like Mean Opinion Score (MOS). The research methodology of that kind is a particular transfer of the specific technical parameters, related to the IP data transmission, to level of service acceptance by an end-user. The article presents the research results obtained by the simulation of the developed MOS estimation algorithm based on the modified neural Self-Organizing Maps (SOM) structure. © 2011 Springer-Verlag.
