The chapter concentrates on presenting an over-all view of the variety of factors influencing design, along with types of solutions suggested in different countries. It deals with the architectural factors of tall buildings of anywhere from 5 stories to 110 stories and higher noting that it is not their measurable height so much as their unusual aspect in relation to their surroundings that calls for special architectural design considerations. Subjects covered include influences of primary client on the design process, building and zoning regulations, priorities of user needs, esthetics, environmental influences and ingress-egress influences on design.
