Abstract

This study presents a mobile technology was used to build an app for the promotion of regional Chinese culture. We used traditional Cantonese nursery rhymes as the basis for our work. These were recorded as sound files, illustrated and combined with Augmented Reality technology to create a multi-sensory experience for the user. We used Android Studio to build the application and implement the main functions. Unity3D was used to implement the AR functions. From a global perspective, the popularity of Cantonese in foreign countries is higher than that of Mandarin. It has a strong influence in overseas Chinese communities, and Cantonese nursery rhymes are easy to understand, integrating local special activities. Our app has use, therefore, both overseas and within China. Cantonese nursery rhyme culture is multifaceted and for this reason it was selected as the subject of our research. The linkage of the different forms of presentation creates multi-sensory stimulation, which promotes the display of traditional Cantonese values in the modern era. In the visual design of the product, the traditional patterns of Cantonese culture were extracted, combined with the illustration styles on the textbooks of the Chinese National Period, and the illustrations and base maps of the Republic of China were drawn.
