Abstract

This paper will outline the software development tools of the Emergent Design Group at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The tools are based on the principles of artificial life and evolutionary algorithms. In view of our experiences we discuss a central issue of ALife and EA-based tools: representation of a design.
