Abstract

As with other abdominal procedures, laparoscopic techniques have been successfully applied to small bowel resection and anastomosis. This chapter details basic principles essential for success with either the open or the laparoscopic approach and stresses safe performance of small bowel anastomoses (sutured or stapled).
