Abstract

This comprehensive work reviews all the main work over the past 160 years of the photoelastic and closely related linear and quadratic electro-optic effects in crystals and crystalline materials. Both the photoelastic and electro-optic effects are described in detail. The book also describes ultrasonic methods for the study of the photoelastic behaviour of glasses and crystals. -R.A.H.
