Abstract

SUMMARY The paper develops two concepts, populism and neo-populism, to examine the government and the figure of president Alvaro Uribe Velez. The text presents the management of the media, economic policy, dealing with the Supreme Court, the relationship with the NGOs and, finally, elements of illegality and illegitimacy in their government.
