Abstract

Introduction of Wireless communications in public transportation system has brought many revolutionary changes in railways leading to improvements in signal and user data transmissions. There are several standards and models implemented to meet the requirements of High Speed Transit systems (HST). As driver less train operation systems (DTO) are also being introduced across the globe, role of technologies like Autonomous Parisian Transportation Administration and TETRA (Terrestrial Trunked Radio) that are globally standardized for high speed metro transit systems have gained an increased research importance. In this paper, a survey of various communication systems of metro rails and high speed transit systems are discussed.
