Abstract

The book discusses many aspects including models for pattern recognition, partitions and relations, objective functional clustering, cluster validity, modified objective functionals, algorithms, and selected applications in classifier designs. Several hundred exercises, drawing upon material in the book, are included. Many of these problems (with answers) are simple calculations, while others are applications or examples of definitions or formulas. The exercises also include problems of current research interest whose solutions are known. Each algorithm is presented step-by-step, as necessary for digital computer coding
