Abstract

This book is organized as a practical guide to writing a biomedical research article, focusing on the writing and submission of manuscripts for research articles. With that dedicated purpose, the chapters are arranged according to the sequence of tasks in creating a successful research article. Based on quantitative evidence from an extensive body of biomedical literature, the book describes the writing patterns of successful authors-namely, those who have published-and it offers perceptive observations on the characteristics of those authors' research papers. This concise, easy-to-use guide was created for biomedical researchers, undergraduate and graduate students in the health sciences, biomedical editors, reviewers, and indeed anyone wishing to improve his or her writing skills in English. "Writing a Biomedical Research Paper" and the Web-based resources that support it provide answers and guidance for authors who wish to write successfully for publication. © Springer 2009.
