Abstract

Effective management of technology development is crucial to advancing state of the art of spacecraft engineering that ultimately enables new scientific discovery. Key elements of this management activity include understanding technology life cycles, composing and evaluating a technology portfolio, encouraging and managing innovation, and knowledge of best practices for technology task management. A technology manager needs to be aware of these essentials within the context of the organizational setting to provide for optimal implementation and results.
