Abstract

The reasons for the increased cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) have not been determined. The presence of traditional CVD risk factors such as abnormal lipid metabolism, hypertension, obesity, and smoking cannot fully explain the higher incidence of CVD events in this population.
