This study evaluated the fishing landings made in the municipality of Jurua, Amazonas. The fisheries landing data were obtained through interviews followed remarks on pre-established form from 2009 to 2010, with the identification of fishing data, fishing activity and the marketing of fish, the only port of fishing landings in the city. The results showed the canoes as the main vessels used in fishing activity, which usually consist of two fishermen, mainly using the lakes for fishing. We identified 50 types of fish landed, especially pacu and the aruanã that had representation in all months of the year, in an activity that accounted for more than 60,000 kg of various fish landed. The capacity per unit effort in the second half of 2009 was 75.0 ± 64.4 kg per fisherman per day of fishing and the first half of 2010 was 62.8 ± 59.2 kg per fisherman per day of fishing. The main fishing tackle used in this area is the gillnets network, where spending on fishing activity are very specific and vary according to location. The main fuel used by ships is the cooking gas, spending on food supplies are low and the ice is the primary means of fish storage for marketing. Information obtained from this research contribute to the knowledge of the fishing activity in the State of Amazonas, creating a basis for future applications of public policy with regard to fisheries management.
