Abstract

Outdoor Behavioral Healthcare (OBH) is a flexible treatment modality, supported by a growing body of research. Narrative family therapy offers flexible tools that can be adapted for many kinds of clients including adolescents and their families. Narrative family therapy can be integrated flexibly into an OBH program and provides a way to link families and teens that are separated by treatment. A case study with specific examples illustrates how letter writing can be used to change the teen's and the family's story. Suggestions for therapists working with families in OBH and residential settings are offered. (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2020 APA, all rights reserved)
