Abstract

Liposuction is one of the most commonly performed cosmetic surgical procedures worldwide. Although tumescent local anesthesia remains the gold standard for anesthesia in most internal lipoplasty procedures, there have been several refinements in the techniques themselves as well as the technologies and instruments utilized for fat destruction and aspiration. The author discusses technology, preoperative considerations, anesthesia, and technique.
