Abstract

Keypoints: 1. Despite nearly 20 years of experience with low-level laser therapy (LLLT) for tinnitus concerns remain as to its effectiveness as a treatment modality for tinnitus. 2. Only a few reports show that LLLT is an effective treatment for tinnitus and other inner-ear conditions. 3. Many conflicting reports show no benefit what-soever. 4. This chapter provides an outline of the biological basis for LLLT and reviews findings of controlled clinical studies of the use of LLLT in tinnitus treatment. © Springer Science+Business Media, LLC 2011.
