Archiving before Loosing Valuable Data? Development of Web Archiving in Europe

Abstract

The article provides an overview of the history, development, and practices of website archiving at libraries in Europe. In particular, it discusses technological aspects and challenges, including web archiving by crawler, quality assurance, and access control to web archives. Issues of developing metadata standards for digital preservation are also addressed.
