Abstract

This chapter presents an overview of potato production including the viruses infecting potatoes in China, Korea Republic, Vietnam, Indonesia, Nepal, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Iran, Syria, Cyprus, Africa, Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Cameroon, Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, Yemen Arab Republic [Yemen], Mexico, Cuba, Latin America, Colombia, Ecuador, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Peru and Argentina. The major viruses infecting potatoes were potato virus Y, potato virus X, potato virus S, potato leafroll virus, potato virus V, Andean potato latent virus, Andean potato mottle virus, potato virus T, potato yellow mosaic virus, potato yellow vein virus, potato mop-top virus, tobacco rattle-virus, tomato spotted wilt virus and potato apical leaf curl virus.
