Abstract

The article focuses on method developed for laboratory determination of the shear strength of rock joints as suggested by International Society for Rock Mechanics. Topics discussed include scope of suggested method which was prepared with keeping in mind of the technological advances, requirements for performing test and laboratory procedures for performing direct shear strength tests of rock. Also mentions that the method is limited to the determination of the quasistatic shear strength.
