Abstract

Aims and objectives: To conduct an integrative review of the literature to describe what is known about the factors related to nurses' attitudes towards the care of the suicidal patient. Background: Suicide, a preventable public health problem, is at epidemic levels in the United States and globally. Regardless of their specialty or their hospital setting, nurses will encounter and provide care for suicidal patients. Little is known about the factors that collectively affect nurses' attitudes towards caring for the suicidal patient in general hospital settings.
