Mechatronics plays an important role in surgical, automotive, food and industrial applications. To become smarter and more robust, mechatronic systems have to rely on numerous objects and controls that operate in a diverse range of conditions. These controls can exhibit undesirable and coupled behavior. Adjusting the controllers in hardware is difficult and time consuming, often resulting in de-tuning the system below acceptable performance levels. The Morphotronics theory aided by a new approach to the Bond Graph theory represents an improvement to traditional computation models used for the analysis of mechatronic systems. Morphotronics use non-Euclidean geometry for context shaping and defining the projection operators in an ideal network of mechatronic forms. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.
