After demonstrating the necessity and the advantage of decomposingthe subdivision matrix in the frequency domain when analysing a subdivisionscheme, we present a general framework based on a method, introducedby Ball and Storry, which computes the Discrete Fourier Transformof a subdivision matrix. The efficacy of the technique is illustratedby performing the analysis of Kobbelt's\sqrt 3 scheme in a verysimple manner.
