Abstract

Project management integrates the work of people internal or external to the organization to achieve objectives. It is important to identify the criteria by which project management is considered effective and measure their perception in the Colombian environment. A mixed research was carried out within the epistemological framework of constructivism. Using constructivist grounded theory, eleven indicators were defined, validated through a survey applied to a sample of 211 Information Technology professionals in various economic sectors. With the analysis of principal components, a construct was created with three dimensions defined as achievement of commitments, solution of needs and fulfillment of expectations. The best qualified indicator was the contribution of the projects to the strategy. The results broaden the theory in project management and open the possibility of future research aimed at measuring effectiveness in other types of projects.
