The dissolved part of a supersaturated polymersolution can be measured separately using high resolution NMR. From the decrease of this dissolved part during crystallization the rate of crystallization can be determined. This method was tested with poly-3,3-bis-(chloromethyl)-oxacyclobutene (penton) and polyethylene using various concentrations, different solvents and crystallization-temperatures. A measurement on penton is shown for example. © 1966 Dr. Dietrich Steinkopff Verlag.
