The following properties of chromium, deposited under a wide variety of plating condi- tions, 11ave been measured ; density, hardness, tensile strength, Young's modulus of elasticity, ductili ty, electr ical resistivi ty, and stress in t he deposit. The oxygen and hydrogen content were determined. The effect of heat treatments up to 1,200° C on certain of these properties has been determined, and some work has been done on the properties of chromium-iron alloys deposited from modified chromi c acid solutions. A relation between the hydrogen alld oxygen content of the deposits has been shown to exi st, and the effect of the oxygen con- tent on the physical properties has been studied. 1.
