Abstract

Traditional lectures are still widely implemented in university teaching. Nevertheless, new approaches based on digital resources and on new technologies are of a high interest for teaching engineering subjects, such as the ‘engineering drawing’ or ‘graphic expression’. The application of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) is providing new strategies in university teaching, thanks to the digital transformation and to the technological advances occurring in the last decades. The aim of this research is to provide with a methodology, based on motivational concepts validated, to assess the potential of the ICT implementation for teaching subjects related to graphic engineering in the current university teaching system for engineering degrees. Analysis of both teaching systems, by the determination of the effectiveness of each instructional approach through a benchmarking on traditional lectures and new ICT for ‘engineering drawing’ subject teaching will be performed in first year students belonging to four different degrees: Industrial Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering and Forestry Engineering.
