Abstract

This chapter discusses the links between hormonal disorders and cerebellar symptoms. Hormonal disorders impact on cerebellar functions and may cause cerebellar ataxia. In particular, thyroid and parathyroid disorders, diabetes mellitus and diabetes insipidus may be associated with cerebellar defi cits. In case of hypothyroidism, cerebellar defi cits are usually reversible with hormonal replacement. Hormonal investigations should be included in the general work-up of cerebellar ataxias of undetermined origin.
