Abstract

In this chapter, we discuss the basic theory of near polygons. These are pointline geometries that were introduced by Shult and Yanushka in [118]. Much of the structure theory of near polygons that we discuss here was developed in Brouwer and Wilbrink [26]. A lot of additional information about near polygons can be found in the reference book [51].
