Abstract

This project aims to implement Smart Home Energy Management System (HEMS). The simulation is implemented using arduino and MATLAB tool. Currently, the current energy crisis has required significant energy reduction in all areas. Energy saving and renewable energy sources are considered as methods of solving home energy problems. Two Arduinos are communicated using Xbee where different devices or home appliances are connected and the output is displayed on the monitor screen at a central home computer. The power consumption of home appliances and of renewable energies are collected from home server, which is used for analyzing the total energy estimation. The overall idea of a Smart Home Energy Management System monitors energy-consuming home appliances and renewable energy devices. This system will help in optimizing home energy use and result in home energy saving cost.
