Abstract

We review the classical as well as the quantum-statistical derivations of the scattering intensities for x-ray and neutron scattering. The comparison of the two expressions show how the electron or the scattering-length classical densities are related to the corresponding quantum-statistical quantities. The further assumptions usually considered in the case of small-angle scattering are also discussed. © Springer-Verlag 2005.
