Abstract

Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST) are the most common sarcomas of the gastrointestinal tract. Most are located in the stomach. This chapter describes management of GIST of the stomach, including resection. Preoperative preparation, pitfalls and danger points, documentation, and postoperative care are detailed. Surgical strategy and operative technique are described.
