Abstract

Given that peace education is marked as one of its goals, this chapter seeks to examine Israel's education policies applied in practice over the years in light of the prolonged Israeli-Arab and Israeli-Palestinian conflict and as related to political and social developments that took place in its course. Specifically, it intends to investigate whether and how Israel's peace education policy reflected crucial events and movement toward peace that took place since the late 1970s, as well as escalations of the conflict in recent years.
