Abstract

The government genome is an excellent structure to understand information flows among components. The enterprise architecture defines the standards governing how information is managed and exchanged. The IT capability includes computing platforms, operating systems, software, data, and networks required to support the components in the overall business model. The enterprise architecture provides the framework for selecting specific products and building a capability that can adapt to changing requirements over time. IT is the lifeline to enable integrated business activities to work by seamlessly connecting government departments, partners, and suppliers. The cumulative result of these technology infrastructure changes is a real opportunity to leapfrog incremental change, to integrate disparate, standalone operations internally and externally, and optimize them as an integrated whole so they work better together and deliver additional value.
