Abstract

Surgical procedures for patients with intractable epilepsy include curative surgery and palliative surgery. It is important to identify the precise location of the seizure focus in resection surgery. Sevoflurane is suitable for producing an epileptic spike. However, when using motor evoked potential and somatosensory evoked potential, propofol is prefer to sevoflurane. Placement of vagal nerve stimulation has been conducted in intractable epilepsy. Cardiac complications such as bradycardia and asystole require attention.
