Abstract

This paper proposes an architecture for the integration of QoS enabled systems in the context of a CaTV network. The proposed architecture makes possible to use several signaling protocols, to add QoS signaling capabilities to systems that would otherwise only support static QoS provisioning and to integrate the QoS mechanisms of the different technologies used in CaTV networks. This paper also describes an implementation of the proposed architecture using Java Beans, where CORBA based signaling is used to provide on demand QoS to the Com21 cablemodem system.
