Abstract

In summary, it is hoped that this chapter provided a review of some of the issues and principles that should be considered when attempting to translate tissue-engineered construct design into eventual human trials. Clearly, this chapter could not cover all of the principles or specific issues that need to be considered. However, a general framework and conceptualization has been reviewed that should be applicable for functional tissue engineering approaches to repair or augment any musculoskeletal tissue.
