Abstract

In multi-actuator mechatronic systems, power transmission with bunch of cables via rotary joints is difficult for structure design, system test and maintenance. In this paper, a contactless power transmission (CPT) system at rotary joint is developed, while its power capacity and transmission performance under dynamic load is evaluated. In particular, parameters of a rotary transformer circuit are calculated for a target power level. A transmission control is applied to stabilize the output voltage under dynamic load. Power transmission tests are carried out with lamps and motors as loads. Step and continuous load profiles are designed in tests. Test results show that the proposed CPT system can stabilize power on a dynamic load with proper capacity and quick response.
