Abstract

Integrin LFA-1 plays an important role in leukocyte trafficking to inflammatory sites as well as the interaction of T cells with antigen-presenting cells. Inhibition of the LFA-1:ICAM-1 interactions is a promising therapeutic approach for alleviating inflammation and autoimmune diseases. This chapter describes cell-free assays to study the LFA-1:ICAM-1 interactions. These assays may be used for screening novel LFA-1 antagonists. © 2011 Springer Science+Business Media, LLC.
