Abstract

A cladistic analysis of Lasiodiscus Hook. f. and Colubrina Rich, ex Brongn. was undertaken, using characters from gross morphology and with 10 of the 13 species of Lasiodiscus and 19 of the 32 species of Colubrina as terminal taxa. The cladograms indicate that, with the exclusion of L. articulatus Capuron several synapomorphies characterize Lasiodiscus. The inclusion of this species in the genus obscured the boundary between Lasiodiscus and Colubrina. L. articulatus should be transferred to Colubrina
